Product Description

Joanns quilting services Welcome to LongArmQuiltersPro

Quilting has been a tradition in my family for generations.  I have two quilts made by my great grandmother that are from the late 1800’s that I show to all my “Learn to Quilt” students.  I understand that every quilt is a treasure to be enjoyed for generations to come.

After you have spent hours piecing and sewing your quilt top it needs the final touch - the special quilting that will compliment your  design .  Every quilt top that I stitch will be given individual consideration where we will work together to arrive at the final design .  Your quilt will find it’s place in your legacy for family and friends and to inspire future generations of quilters.

Quilting Prices

All quilting prices include mounting on the LongArm with one solid color thread in the top and in the bobbin.  The prices are based on square inches.  To calculate the size of your quilt you can multiply the length by the width to arrive at the total number of square inches.

SIMPLE - Medium to Large Meandering and simple pantograph designs  start at  1.35¢ per square inch.  More intricate designs are priced higher according to time involved to execute the designs.

CUSTOM - Combination of simple freehand design, or incorporating several simple freehand designs start at 2¢ per square inch.

DETAILED - A more intense level of custom freehand quilting.  I offer many types of freehand quilting, including, leaves, hearts, stars and loops starting at 3¢ per square inch.

SPECIALTY QUILTING - Applies to all “Art Quilts”, and anything that is more than an overall design, including but not limited to ruler work, stitch in the ditch, outlining, templates, micro-stippling,  small meandering, individual block designs, separate border designs, cross hatching, diagonals, remounting of the quilt for side borders or additional borders,  echo quilting, stitching around appliqué motifs, and feather fill.
Prices begin at  4¢ per square inch.

There is an additional $10.00 charge for removing the quilt from the frame and turning it to quilt borders.

The minimum quilting charge on any quilt is $65 and there is a 25% rush charge when available.

THREAD - I offer all colors of Superior Threads and use Superior Bottom Line threads in the bobbins.  All quilt charges include one standard color in the top and bobbin.  There is a $5.00 charge for each thread change and for specialty threads.

BATTING - I carry a variety of polyester and  premium cotton battings.  Please inquire about what we have in stock or you may provide your own.

All prices will be agreed upon  in writing and will begin upon receipt of your quilt and a 50% deposit.

PREPARING YOUR QUILT

All quilts must be trimmed and squared.  The backing and batting  should be 5-6” larger than the top on each side.  If your top contains many seams, you should allow more excess on your backing and batting because the tops do stretch.  Backing seams should be ½” and pressed open.  The backing must be trimmed so that it is square and all selvages removed.  If I must trim your backing there will be a $5.00 charge per edge.  Mark the top side of your quilt with a safety pin so I will know how to load your quilt

All loose threads should be removed from the quilt.  The hopping foot can become tangled in loose threads and tear your top.  There is a charge of $25 per  hour to clean up loose threads if you don’t have time.

Quilt tops should be pressed.  Backings should be washed and pressed.  I can also provide this service for you at $25 per hour.

Stay stitch , ¼” around the edge of your quilt top if it is pieced to the edge.

Examine your seams.  If your stitches are too big or your sewing tension is off, your seams can pull apart.  I reserve the right to reject any top that looks as though it will not withstand the stretching on the quilt frame and the top will be returned at your expense.  If any seams come apart during the quilting process, they will be top stitched.

BINDING SERVICE

I will trim your quilt, make the binding (you provide the fabric), machine stitch the binding to the front and hand stitch it to the back. - 25¢ per linear inch.

Or, I will trim your quilt, make the binding (you still provide the fabric), machine stitch the binding to the front and you stitch it to the back. - 15¢ per linear inch.

ABOUT ME

I have been sewing all my life.  I started by making doll clothes on my mother’s Singer FeatherWeight sewing machine.  Since my mom made most of my clothes, I started sewing for myself at an early age.  I have a  BFA in weaving and textile design from the Cleveland Institute of Art.  I am an experienced fiber artist and can  use this knowledge to turn your quilt into a one-of-a-kind work of art.
